Teaching Hand Washing

In this video, Autism Live Host, Shannon Penrod talks about considerations when teaching a child the adaptive skill of washing your own hands. Included are ideas for determining what is age appropriate for the child, because our expectations of an end goal for hand washing for a 2 year old should be different than our end goal hand washing for an 8 year old regardless of their current skill abilities. Shannon talks in depth about using a task analysis and then chaining different elements of hand washing in order to have success.
