Shannon Penrod, mother of a child on the Autism spectrum, hosts an interactive show focusing on how parents, teachers and practitioners can be their most effective and efficient working with a child on the Autism Spectrum. On today?s show Shannon shares the jargon term Mastery, tips on how to use food to improve oral motor skills, fun tips on teaching the five senses and removing artificial colors and flavors from your child?s diet. Questions asked include how to find lessons to teach children on the spectrum, what to do when the school denies services despite your private diagnosis, what to do when the school diagnoses Autism and the funding provider diagnoses PDD-NOS, and what after school activities are appropriate for kids with ASD.
