Autism Mom Shannon Penrod shares a petition on change.org asking the YMCA to stop discriminating against individuals with ASD. The petition was started by a woman who’s child on the spectrum was discriminated against at a YMCA because of his disability. Shannon shares her personal story of being told that her child was no longer welcome at her local YMCA because they were not equipped to deal with his disability. Many YMCAs are making sure that their staff and facilities are autism-friendly. Why aren’t they all? Shouldn’t they be?
